Medical card – How it works?
Yesterday, a friend of mine asked me why dont i write some information about how the medical card works especially during our admission to hospital and so here i am to share some of the information that i knew of or rather through my own experience.
As I am the insurance agent for Prudential and so the information that i share here will be based on my experience with regards to Prudential Medical Card cause there might be different ways for other company medical card.
Normally, if my policyholder informed me earlier about their operation date and the admission date, (for some operation , normally the doctor will fix a date), then i will help them to apply the letter of guarantee from prudential in advance so that they wont need to pay for any deposit during their admission. This application of letter of guarantee is very easy and simple to apply, I will go to the hospital concerned (so far, most of my policyholders will either go to SMC or Damai specialist centre), informed the admission centre, then they will give me a form for my policyholder to sign, then with this form, they will fax over to my company to get approval, once the company has replied and faxed the letter of guarantee to the hospital concerned, then everything is done.
When the day comes, i will be there with my policyholder to make sure everything is in order, since letter of guarantee is there, so they are allowed to be admitted without paying any deposit. After all the operation done and when the policyholder needs to check out, then the hospital concern will then prepare the final bill and fax to my company, once my company has approved and have no queries on the final bill, they will then fax back the approval back to the hospital, then the policyholder will be able to leave after paying the difference (the difference here means if the medical card that the policyholder purchased only cover the room rate for rm100 and if he is staying in the room which costs rm175, then he or she will need to pay for the difference which in this case is rm75).
For those emergency case, like suddenly need to be admitted , the procedure is still the same, but just that the hospital concerned need to send the application of letter of guarantee on the spot, it is still ok…just that if the operation is planned ahead then we will do the application before hand.
From the above information, you will be aware that with one medical card on hand, it is really very useful cause you dont have to worry about money when a person need to be admitted for operation and treatment. In fact for last month, i have two policyholders went in for operation in SMC and yesterday i have one admitted again for operation and i really see how this medical card has helped them on this. So, friends, do check your policy if any medical card is attached, if none, please talk to your agent and please get one before it is too late. For those without any insurance agent, you are most welcome to contact me.
I hope the above information will help everyone to understand how this medical card works and if further information is needed, please do not hesitate to contact me or email me, consultation is free..hehe..but if you want, i dont mind if you want to buy me a coffee for this..hehe….

thanks for yr comment, you mean the medical card premium?if that is why u mean…i think maybe the medical card that he bought is yearly renewable one or standalone policy where no saving or investment element inside, because for those yearly renewable one or standalone policy..the medical card premium will increase according to age, some every five years and some follow the age …it increases according to the age increases…i cannot really give you the exact reason until i read his policy..but i share the above through my experience and knowledge that i have….hope you dont mind…ya…thanks…
if you have further enquiries, you are most welcome to contact me..thanks
